Harrison is a former Great Britain forward |
Karl Harrison has agreed to take charge of Championship side Batley Bulldogs until the end of the season. The former Salford head coach took over on a temporary basis in April after Gary Thornton was sacked. "I was asked to be caretaker for one month until the club found someone else, but they haven't been able to do that," Harrison told BBC Radio Leeds. "If I can throw some ideas which will help stay in this division then I'll have done my job." Harrison made the announcement after Batley's 66-4 home defeat by his former Super League side Salford in the Challenge Cup. The West Yorkshire side are currently bottom of the division having won and drawn one, and losing six games. "The club has not got the greatest of resources finances, but it's a very hard working club," he said. "They are very much for the cause and the players are keen to work hard to improve. "If we got a cash injection from somewhere we would be able to compete with the bigger clubs."
