Batley (0) 4 Tries: Maun Salford (48) 66 Tries: Wilshere, Myler, Henry 4, Ratchford, McGilvray, Alker, Paul, Adamson Goals: Wilshere 10, Paul Mark Henry scored four tries as Salford cruised into the Challenge Cup quarter-finals with a thumping win over Batley. The winger touched down twice in the first half as John Wilshere, Richard Myler, Malcolm Alker, Stefan Ratchford and Dean McGilvray all scored tries. Henry added two further tries after the break before Danny Maun scored Batley's only points in the 57th minute. But further scores from Robbie Paul and Luke Adamson, along with 20 points from the boot of Wilshere, sealed the win.
Batley caretaker Karl Harrison: "I thought in the first half we probably showed the opposition too much respect. "We came out of the arm wrestle first and every time we made a mistake the Salford Reds scored and really put us to the sword. "We tightened things up at half-time and changed a few things technically. And to be truthful, I thought we were outstanding in the second half and I'm really pleased." Salford head coach Shaun McRae: "We're in the quarter-finals, there's eight teams remaining and it's been a long haul to get there. "To be one of the final eight is a wonderful achievement in itself. "Quarter-finals time is business time. That's when you feel you've got an opportunity to do something special."
