Swinton Lions have moved a step closer to building a new stadium in the Agecroft area of Salford.

The Lions currently play at Sedgley Park Rugby Union club but have now hired consultants to work on a ground proposal with the local council.

A statement on the club website said: "We are hopeful the full application will be ready for submission within the next six months.

"We are confident a permanent viable base can be established in the area."
