Celtic Crusaders cantered to victory over Swinton Lions at the Brewery Field on Saturday to consolidate their position at the top of Co-operative National League Two. Crusaders took the lead after just four minutes when pressure caused Marlon Billy to mishandle and from the scrum, Mark Dalle Cort made a superb 40-metre run to score. Damien Quinn converted.
Rob Toshack barged through from the first set after kick-off to put the Welsh 10-0 up as Quinn's kick hit the post.
The match was over as a contest before the quarter-hour when converted Terry Martin and Tony Duggan tries took the home side clear at 22-0.
Quinn, April's NL2 player of the month, then weaved his way through on 26 minutes to score under the sticks, converting his own try.
He crossed again two minutes before half-time, again landing the easy kick, and Craig Richards sprinted in for Crusaders' seventh just on the hooter.
Richards went over for his second try of the match just eight minutes after the interval. Quinn converted and then ran over for his hat-trick, converting it himself.
Swinton finally got on the scoreboard on 55 minutes when Bruce Johnson dived over for an unconverted try.
Duggan then ran in for his second try, Quinn adding his eighth goal of the evening, while Dalle Cort went over for his second three minutes later.
Duggan, Anthony Blackwood and Van Dijk scored in the last 10 minutes, before Quinn ended the rout with his fourth try for a personal tally of 30 points.
