York City Knights opening game of the season in the Northern Rail Cup against Whitehaven has been postponed.

The fixture was called off following an inspection on Sunday morning which found the pitch at the Huntington Stadium was frozen.

A new date for the game is still to be arranged and will be announced by the club in due course.

The Knights next scheduled game is due to be played away to Workington Town on Sunday, 15 February at 1500 GMT.
