Geyer won at the English Alpine Championships in Italy in February |
Devon skier Jai Geyer has suffered an injury setback at the start of his debut season with Team Great Britain. The 20-year-old from Torquay started his first winter campaign for Team GB in Zinal, Switzerland last week, but injured his knee in the first race. Geyer is now set to miss out on his next racing commitment in Norway to focus on returning to fitness. Geyer was given a place on the Team GB squad after impressing last season, winning at the English Championships. Torquay Alpine Ski Club chairman Nigel Simmons said: "Jai's training over the summer in Devon and abroad with Team GB has gone well, and both he and GB coaches are optimistic about improving his world ranking points. "However, this means that he has got to be pushing the edge of the envelope all the time, so it's inevitable that he won't always complete every race. "He will also need to balance his natural ambition against the risk of injury, especially as the courses get harder at this level."
