Torquay skier Jai Geyer has been become the latest addition to the Great Britain Team.

The 20-year-old, who is a member of Torquay Alpine Ski Club, is the only newcomer to the 11-strong squad.

Geyer will now be training for a place at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia alongside present Olympians Chemmy Alcott and Noel Baxter.

"It means a lot to me," he told BBC Sport. "It's exactly what I needed to move forward and go to the next level."

Geyer added: "Being on the team means I'll be taken on board and be nurtured a bit more on a long-term plan towards something bigger in the future."

The Devon youngster has been in fine form of late, putting in several top class performances across the season in Europe, including a win at the English Slalom Championships in February.

And with the backing of the British Team now behind him, Geyer is aiming to keep on improving and claim a spot with Team GB at the 2014 Olympics.

He said: "There's a long road ahead, and I'm sure it'll be very hard as I'd have to be one of the best."
