Loveridge represented Guernsey at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi |
Guernsey's Alice Loveridge won her first senior title with victory in the Six Nations International Championships on the Isle of Man at the weekend. The 16-year-old beat England's Emma Vickers in the women's singles final, 11-4 11-8 9-11 11-6. Loveridge then combined with Dawn Morgan to win bronze in the women's team competition. Garry Dodd and Olly Langlois came fourth in the men's team event, but their efforts were enough to take Guernsey to third in the overall team competition. All four players topped their groups in the individual events to qualify for the main event against opponents from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man. Guernsey Table Tennis Association president Derek Webb said: "To win three medals at a senior event is a fantastic achievement and comes on the back of a very successful Commonwealth Games."
