Damien Nicholls picked up 525 for retaining his title |
Top seed Damien Nicholls came from behind to beat Ireland's Paul McCreery, seeded two, 3-1 in the final of the Jersey Table Tennis Open. He told BBC Radio Jersey: "One down and struggling in the second, but eventually my work paid off and I was happy with my play in the end." The ladies title went to Guernsey's Alice Loveridge, who beat Chloe Whyte from Cleveland. In the banded events, there were successes for Jersey youngsters. Josh Band picked up his first senior national title, winning band four, to add to his two junior ones, and he was only just beaten on count-back to second place in band three. Max Tupper won the lower band five title, with Hugo Tupper runner-up. Not to be outdone, Josie Marshall was band three runner-up in the ladies section.
