Johnson won all four of his games in the second round |
Isle of Man lost every match at the Commonwealth Championships in Glasgow on Monday, but gained valuable experience for the Island Games. The team was drawn in a very strong group including India and South Africa and could not manage a win. Whilst the top teams progressed the Manx team joined Mauritius, Jersey, Guernsey and Malta in the second round to decide the minor placing. Scott Johnson won all four of his games to regain some much needed confidence. Johnson's stalwart defence and almost impossible retrieving was a real positive for the team. Unfortunately the Manx team, which also included Paul Corran and Adam Teare, lost all their matches 3-1 as they prepare for the 13th Island Games in Aland on 27 June. As expected, Singapore dominated the event winning six out of the seven finals, with India claiming the men's doubles.
