Aland is preparing for the biggest ever Island Games this summer with more than 3,000 athletes set to compete. The Swedish-speaking Finnish island, which lies between the two countries, is expecting 3,211 competitors for the event which starts on 27 June. Jersey is set to send the biggest team with 251 competitors, more than the host island's total of 247. The isle of Man will send 230 athletes while 218 will go from Guernsey, 31 from Alderney and six from Sark. Football has attracted the most competitors with Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man committing to send teams. In total 635 people from 17 men's teams and 11 women's teams will be playing.
