Jersey ran out convincing 37-5 winners over Old Albanians in their London League One clash at St Peter.

Fly-half Mitch Burton claimed 22 of the island side's points in a great individual performance.

Head coach Ben Harvey told BBC Jersey he was pleased with the win and how his side are coming together as a unit.

He said: "As the season has progressed I think the players all now know each other and their individual jobs within the team a lot better and it showed."

Jersey were never tested by the Hertfordshire club and opened the score in the 20th minute with a try from Burton.

Five minutes later Burton increased the score with a penalty.

Nineteen-year-old winger Ed Dawson scored wide on the right-hand touchline, before Burton kicked another penalty and converted a third try to put Jersey 23-0 in front going into the interval.

The St Albans club were on the scoresheet soon after the break, with James Crew-Kellis bursting over the try-line.

But that was as good as it got for Old Albanians as Jersey ran in two more tries.

First Dawson scored his second of the afternoon as his pace took him round the defensive cover, before Burton finished the game as he began with his second try and a superb touchline conversion that coincided with the final whistle.

They're must win games for us to stay in the promotion hunt, but I'm not nervous and neither are the boys. I think excited would be a better word.

Old Albanians director of rugby Bruce Millar felt his side lost their way.

"We had a lot of frailties and a lot of people playing out of position," he said.

"Jersey exposed that - they have a huge pack and they use it pretty well."

Jersey now have a week off before the two matches that could decide their season, away to league leaders Shelford followed by second-placed Barnes at home.

And Harvey knows how important they are to Jersey's prospects.

"They're must win games for us to stay in the promotion hunt, but I'm not nervous and neither are the boys," he said. "I think excited would be a better word."
