St Brelade cause Touzel cup upset

Football

St Brelade turned the Championship form-book on its head on Tuesday night as they beat First Tower United 3-1 to reach the Touzel Trophy final.

Tower have not lost to a Championship side since November and inflicted runaway leaders Portuguese Club with their first defeat of the season.

But goals from Ollie Nightingale, Nathan Brown and teenager James Hudson saw St Brelade go through to the final.

Gavin Toudic got the consolation goal for First Tower.

St Brelade will now meet either Portuguese Club or St John who play the second semi-final on Saturday, 21 February with the final being held at Springfield on Tuesday, 14 April.

St Brelade have never won the Touzel Trophy in their 56-year history, despite 55 seasons in the island's lower divisions.
