Simpson said the court had favoured the short game |
Guernsey squash star Chris Simpson has eased through the first round of the $10,000 Baltimore Cup. Having taken his first tournament win for 18 months in Vancouver last week, Simpson stormed through his first match against Austrian Aqeel Rahman 3-0. Simpson said: "It was a good first round match. He put me under some pressure but I was always in front and able to play my way into the match. "The court tin means I have to really concentrate on my short game." He added: "It is incredibly hot and bouncy as it has a really tight, enclosed viewing area and it has a high tin, two inches higher than I am used to." Simpson, ranked 51 in the world, faces England's Eddie Charlton, ranked 93, in the second round. Simpson said: "I know his game well as we have played a few times before. This will be a much tougher match."
