At America's Silver Jubilee Regatta at Cowes, he was hit in the face by a spinnaker pole and stepped off the boat.

Fortunately for Pearson he was picked up by the chase boat and did not suffer any serious injuries.

The bowman will be an essential part of the GBR Challenge team.
