 Five of the squad have been selected for the World Championships in Denmark
The Manx Youth Sailing Squad won the overall team trophy at the RS Tera Inland Championships held at Rutland Water at the weekend. The Manx squad add the inland title to the RS Tera National Championship team title won at Dabchicks last year. Isle of Man coach Jenni Quillin said: "It's a fantastic achievement and shows the quality of sailing on the island." The Inland Team Champions Trophy is awarded to the club with the highest-placed three finishers overall. The island's highest-placed sailors were Izzy Sharpe (3rd) in the Pro fleet, Greg Kelly (5th) in the Sport fleet and Hannah Howitt (6th) in the Pro fleet. There was more joy as five of the Manx team were selected to join the GB squad for 2011. Izzy Sharpe (14), Hannah Howitt (15), Amie Shute (13), Greg Kelly (12)and Ffinlo Wright (10) will compete at the World Championship in Denmark next summer. Quillin added: "It has been an outstanding year for the team and this is the perfect way to finish it. "We have proved that we can deliver consistently at the highest level. "Not only that but we have two world champions as well." In August, James Kelly and Hannah Howitt were both crowned RS Tera World Champions. Next year, Kelly will move in to the Laser Radial class.
