Parrish has guided the Dynamos to seven successive league titles |
Invicta Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish is "quietly confident" his new look side can win an eighth consecutive English League South title. The Dynamos, who have 17 new players this year, are second in the table - three points behind the Wightlink Raiders but have three games in hand. "I'm quietly confident but it's going to be tough with the amount of new guys," Parrish told BBC Radio Kent. "But hopefully at the end of the season we'll be up there or thereabouts." Parrish's flu-hit squad suffered their third defeat of the season on Saturday - losing 7-2 to Chelmsford. But they bounced back on Sunday with a 6-4 win over Streatham. | We're not going to lay down and just let teams come in and take the championship off us |
"We need to get everyone on the same page and I think once we do that we'll be alright," said Parrish. "It's going to be tough at the top towards the end of the year but we're still hanging in there, with some games in hand. "The new boys have come to us knowing that we do aim to win the league. "It's been a good seven years winning this title and if we have to give it up then hopefully we'll win it back next year. "We're not going to lay down and just let teams come in and take the championship off us. "It's our trophy and we don't want to give it away lightly." After winning his seventh title with the Dynamos last March, Parrish had said he would consider leaving, if a job in the English Premier League was offered to him. But with the club facing more of a challenge to retain their title this year, he is enjoying the task in hand. "It's tough with the young team we've got this year and working with different attitudes and styles but I'm enjoying," said Parrish. "If I wasn't enjoying it then I wouldn't be here."
