Steve Moria became coach of Basingstoke Bison in 2009 |
Basingstoke Bison coach Steve Moria believes his side have strengthened over the summer and can challenge for silverware this season. Last season, Basingstoke finished fifth in the English Premier League and Moira told BBC Berkshire: "My aim and the team's aim is to win. "I'd like to make the top four play-offs this year and hopefully, come April, get a trophy or two in the bag. "We've a good base and have added four or five new faces to spice things up." The Canadian coach has named a full roster for the upcoming season after recruiting heavily in the transfer window, with Great Britain pair Callum Best and Carl Graham among his summer signings.
"In terms of signings we're complete. I'm happy with the squad we've got," said Moria. "We're really itching to get going here - we're just over four weeks away from getting together and starting the season. "As a team, there are quite a few new faces to get used to. Obviously, one or two of those guys are new to the country and need to get used to the style of play over here." Basingstoke Bison start their pre-season campaign against local rivals Bracknell Bees before the season starts on 18 September. "Bracknell is very significant purely because it's the first time we will all get on the ice and it is a good one for us to start and get under way before the league campaign," added Moria.
