Stanton has also played for Romford |
Telford Tigers have re-signed defenceman Ashley Stanton, as well as new forward Josh Bruce. Stanton, 26, spent most of his career at Telford, and last season played for the local Titans side. "It's like Christmas is coming - I'm delighted Tigers are back up and running and I can't wait to get playing again," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. Winger Bruce has signed from Coventry's ENL side, but has benefitted from training with the Blaze's Elite squad. "Josh is a clever little player. He makes good time and space for himself and I think now is the time for him to make a step up to the English Premier League," said Tigers player coach Tom Watkins. "He ticks the boxes in terms of attitude and work-ethic," he said of the 21 year old, who has also spent 18 months with the Ontario Hockey Academy. And referring to Stanton, Watkins added: "Ashley is a good local option who has played at this level before. He is very committed to Telford, loyal, and willing to do whatever it takes to play for his home team." Telford pulled out of the English Premier League in May after the owners left the club but they have been revived by a supporters' trust.
