Tomas Janak has rejoined Telford Tigers after impressing coach Tom Watkins at a recent trial.

Janak spent two years at Telford from 2004, before joining Solihull, Swindon, and then Dijon in the French League.

"He came to our open try-outs and I was very impressed with him. He was the best player on the ice that day," Watkins told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"Peter Russell, who coached him at Swindon, highly recommended him as a good, solid player."

His first spell in Telford colours saw him playing in defence, but he has joined Tigers this time as a forward, his preferred position.

All the people I spoke to about Tomas said he is a great guy

Watkins added: "When I started building the team I expected to have to go with three imports because we are on a limited budget and imports usually have housing costs.

"But he's living in Solihull so will travel with the other guys from there, and because we don't have to fly him in and house him, that let's me sign the full four imports within our budget.

"All the people I spoke to about Tomas said he is a great guy - and I'm delighted to add his talent and depth to our squad."
