Telford Tigers have signed Scottish forward Scott McKenzie from Elite League side Edinburgh Capitals. "Scott's a difficult player to beat and has good positioning. I want good Brits like him on my team," Tigers coach Tom Watkins told BBC Radio Shropshire. McKenzie, 24, spent six years with Chelmsford and Romford before moving up to Edinburgh a year ago. "I wanted to come back to the English Premier League, and where better to do that than with Tom?" McKenzie said. "I had a bit of a stop-start year with Capitals. I had to prove myself at that level, and I learned such a lot defensively from coach Doug Christiansen. He taught me a lot about my game and gave me a chance. | I believe he could have stayed in the Elite League, but he wants to play more in all situations and push himself Telford Tigers coach Tom Watkins |
"But the thing is, I like to score and I think the EPL is the place where I can do that. "I'd like to be a big player at Telford, and I want to play a big part in a winning team. "And I have lots of respect for Tom Watkins. That was a huge factor in deciding to come to Telford - and I'm looking forward to the start of the season." Watkins added: "I believe he could have stayed in the Elite League, but he wants to play more in all situations and push himself. "He will give us a lot of extra depth."
