Fans support Telford Tigers trust

Ice hockey

Around 100 fans have agreed to become members of the Telford Tigers supporters' trust in a bid to revive the club.

The Tigers pulled out of the English Premier League in May after owners David and Rachel Candlin left the club.

"I look forward to the work we have to raise funds, build a team and get the Tigers back on the ice," said trust chairman Alan Gould.

The trust is the first of its kind for a British ice hockey team.

"This year is the 25th anniversary of ice hockey in Telford," added trust coordinator Mike Dixon.

"It seems very appropriate that, for the first time, the Telford Tigers will truly belong to the people of Shropshire."

Supporters of the trust have been urged to volunteer with fundraising, marketing and administration of the club, as well as joining up as members.
