Hull Stingrays sign Sheffield Scimitars' James Archer

James Archer
Archer impressed last season at the Rays

Hull Stingrays have signed Sheffield Scimitars forward James Archer for the upcoming Elite league campaign.

The 22-year-old former Coventry man played four games for the Rays last season, scoring two goals.

Rays coach Sylvain Cloutier told BBC Radio Humberside: "I tried to sign James last season but he'd already agreed to play for Sheffield.

"He did a great job when we brought him up on a two-way contract last season and he'll add a lot to us this year."

Archer will get to train full-time for the first time since leaving Coventry where he was part of their junior programme and Cloutier said: "He can play a physical game but he can also chip in offensively so I'll be expecting big things out of James."
