Silverthorn will play first line hockey for the Rays next season |
Hull Stingrays have re-signed Canadian Jason Silverthorn for the 2010-2011 Elite League season. The 30-year-old, who joined Hull in October, returns after 21 goals and 27 assists in 45 games during an injury-hit first season at the Hull Arena. Rays coach Sylvain Cloutier told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's maturing and I think it could be a breakout season for him next year. "He knows the league and we're going to need him to lead us offensively." Silverthorn suffered a broken jaw in his first game, away at the Nottingham Panthers, and missed two months on the ice. The former Cardiff Devils and Edinburgh Capitals player took time to settle but showed his worth at the back end of the season. Cloutier said: "He's one of the first guys I went after to bring back. We got it done quick and I know he's very excited about coming back."
