Hull Stingrays have signed American defenceman Joshua Mizerek and Canadian forward Chris Korchinski for the 2010/11 Elite League campaign. Mizerek has played the past three years in Holland for HYS The Hague and will captain the side, while Korchinski played for the Elmira Jackals in 2009. Rays coach Sylvain Cloutier told BBC Radio Humberside: "The two guys will fit in well for us. "Both have great playing records and are looking forward to joining us." Mizerek, 32, has played for 10 different US clubs in the ECHL, Central Hockey League and United Hockey League. | Josh has been to Hull and loves the city and the arena and he can't wait to get going |
Korchinski, 24, recorded 18 goals and 12 assists for Elmira in the ECHL last season. Cloutier said: "Josh is an experienced defenceman who will be my captain next season. He had a successful time in Holland but has been to Hull and loves the city and the arena and he can't wait to get going. "He knows how to win and he doesn't accept losing. He is a winner. I have played with him before and he is a competitor, he never gives up and they are the positive vibes I want in the team. "Korchinski is a really big signing for us. If I was to compare him with someone I would say he is a Dan Carlson with an edge. He puts up numbers and is not afraid to mix it up. He will be a big key to our success. We will be counting on him a lot next season. "I have been trying to get him for the last three years."
