Coventry Blaze are brushed aside by Cardiff Devils
Cardiff Devils booked their place in the Elite League play-off final with a 6-3 win over league champions Coventry Blaze at the National Ice Centre.
Devils dominated early on and led 2-0 through Phil Hill and Matt Miller.
Luke Fulghum pulled a goal back but further strikes from Miller and Hill stretched Cardiff's lead to 4-1.
Blaze hit back when Fulghum and Brad Cruikshank made it 4-3 but a Jay Latulippe effort and Max Birbraer's late empty-net goal secured the win.
Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "There isn't a single team in this league that's had the injuries to contend with that we have and currently still have.
"Three of them are on their way to hospital now. I'm very proud.
"There was nothing left in the tank. But credit to Cardiff - they played a great game."
