Jeff Szwez celebrates after scoring in the play-offs victory on Saturday

The Belfast Giants will take a three-goal lead into the second leg of their play-off quarter-final against Newcastle Vipers after this 4-1 win.

After a scoreless first period, Mike Berry put Newcastle in front but goals from Evan Cheverie (2) and Jeff Szwez turned it round for the Giants.

A second goal from Szwez in the third period handed Belfast a handy lead to take into Sunday's second leg.

Steve Thornton's side will travel to Newcastle for that fixture.
