Giants players celebrate Friday's victory at the Odyssey Arena

Belfast Giants kept their slim Elite League title hopes alive as they edged out Cardiff on Friday at the Odyssey.

Jeff Szwez scored both Giants goals as Steve Thornton's side moved to within a point of leaders Coventry.

Blaze are still strong favourites for the title as they have two games in hand on the Giants.

Coventry face Nottingham on Saturday before taking on Sheffield on Sunday. The Giants are in action again against Edinburgh on Sunday.
