Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers has hailed his side's attitude in their 3-1 victory over Belfast Giants at the National Ice Centre.

Goals from Jay Henderson, David Clarke and Stevie Lee saw Panthers move level on points with second-placed Giants.

Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We knew we were going to win.

"You got that sense in the dressing room and on the ice that it was going to be our night as we were prepared to do anything to win."

Panthers remain five points behind leaders Coventry, who still have two games in hand, and are level on 59 points with Belfast, who have a game in hand.

All three sides play this week, Panthers hosting Newcastle on Wednesday, while Belfast go to Cardiff, and on Thursday Coventry host the Devils at the Skydome.

"We are going to try to win every game and see what happens," added Meyers.

"It's about personal pride - whether you have something to play for or not, you are paid as a professional to play.

"A player has a duty, not only to his team-mates but in his contract, to play hard as well.

"Many times this year we have gone under the radar and teams have written us off and all of sudden we've been back in.

"Who knows, we might just sneak back up and maybe nick this one."
