Belfast Giants suffered defeat in Sunday's Elite League title showdown with the Panthers in Nottingham. The visitors were short handed when they took the lead through a Jeff Szwez strike after four minutes. But the Panthers hit back with Jay Henderson levelling on 22 minutes and David Clarke put the hosts ahead with a power-play goal four minutes later. Belfast's hopes of a comeback ended when Stephen Lee scored the third goal for Nottingham with four minutes left. Panthers were beaten 6-4 away against fierce rivals Sheffield Steelers on Saturday. Sean McAslan scored twice with and Dominic D'Amour and Davie Clarke also on target for the Panthers. But Steelers showed great spirit to recover from 4-3 down in the final period and take the points. Giants went into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over title favourites Coventry Blaze on Saturday night.
