Meyers is in his second season as Panthers captain |
Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers has revealed the club's players all signed a sheet promising 100% commitment in their title bid. Panthers are now top of the Elite League, a point clear of Coventry, after 14 wins in their last 18 matches. Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We were doing 75% but if you are going to win this league it has got to be 100%. "Everyone signed a sheet saying they will do what it takes to win this league and it's in our room now." Panthers stormed to the top of the table at the start of the season, but lost top spot to the Blaze in late November and have been playing catch-up ever since. | This sheet says we have accepted we will do whatever Corey asks us to do Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers |
The Blaze did have four games in hand at one stage, but that has been reduced to two after their defeats home and away against Edinburgh. Panthers beat Coventry 3-1 on Sunday in the Skydome Arena, thanks to two goals from Marty Gascon and one by David Clarke. "I printed off a sheet for all the guys to sign," added Meyers. "This sheet says we have accepted we will do whatever Corey [Neilson, coach] asks us to do. "I think ever since then there have been no excuses. Everyone has signed the sheet to say we will do it. "Every time someone steps out, all we have to do is wave the sheet at them.
