Giants player/coach Steve Thornton is caught by Sheffield netminder Andrew Verner in Belfast

The Belfast Giants defeated the Steelers in Wednesday night's Elite League clash at the Odyssey.

Evan Cheverie put the hosts ahead at the end of the first period but Sheffield hit back with an equaliser from Kevin Bolibruk.

The Giants secured the points by scoring the next three goals with Tim Cook, Brandon Benedict and Colin Shields on target.

Jeff Legue netted a consolation for the visitors in the final minute.

Belfast are back in action on Saturday against the Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey.
