The Belfast Giants gained instant revenge for Saturday's defeat away to Newcastle with a comfortable Elite League win at the Odyssey Arena. Evan Cheverie, George Awada, Brandon Benedict and Tom Walsh scored to put the Giants in command at 4-0. Nathan Salem pulled one back for the Vipers but Steve Thornton and Colin Shields netted to make it 6-1. Matus Petricko got a second goal for Newcastle but the Giants easily ended their run of three defeats in a row. With Nottingham and Coventry both winning, Belfast stay third in the Elite League standings. The Giants have two more home matches coming up with Sheffield Steelers coming to the Odyssey on Wednesday and the Cardiff Devils visiting on Saturday.
