Matsos's side are now fourth in the Elite League table

Sheffield Steelers head coach Dave Matsos said he was relieved to see his side end their winless run at home in the Elite League.

Steelers beat Cardiff Devils 6-3 at the Sheffield Arena on Sunday.

And Matsos told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I think we played a desperate hockey game which is what we needed to do.

"I told the guys, 'let's be honest here, get back to the basics, get all the little things right and enjoy getting the little things right'."

Matsos added: "We had a lengthy meeting before the game and after the game last night and it was just one of irrespective of the scoreline.

"I wanted the guys to do the little things tonight, they did and they had fun."
