Dave Matsos has backed his players to bounce back from a slow start
Three goals in the final three minutes sent the Sheffield Steelers to their second successive home defeat.
Goals from Joey Talbot and Rod Sarich looked to have sealed victory for the Steelers, but the Giants fought back to win 4-2.
The Steelers sit in 7th place in the Elite League table.
"We took a back seat and when you do that teams will capitalise on it and that is exactly what happened," Dave Matsos told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"It is still early days we have a good group of guys who have proven that when they play together and play smart we are effective.
"This is something that will only make us stronger, if it never happens you never know how bad it feels and how hard you have to work to have success.
"This is a low, but it's early on and I would rather it would get ironed out now and it will, I pride ourselves on not getting too low on the lows and when adversity hits you don't curl up in a ball, you face it and fight it," added Matsos.
