Barnsley v Swansea

Barnsley 0-0 Swansea

Barnsley and Swansea battled out a goalless draw at Oakwell to frustrate two clubs struggling to make a mark.

It was the Swans' fourth Championship draw of the season under Portuguese manager Paul Sousa.

But Barnsley at least had the satisfaction of taking a point after claiming their first win of the season in midweek, the 3-2 at Derby.

Cedric van der Gun saw one of the game's' best chances saved by goal-keeper David Preece.

Gun's failed effort was merely one of Swansea's numerous continued failures in front of goal.

Gorka Pintado, Leon Britton, Alan Tate, Nathan Dyer and substitute Craig Beattie also saw attempts saved or fail to hit the target.

Barnsley could have claimed their first home win of the season had Darren Moore and Iain Hume been able to make the most of their chances.

Barnsley boss Mark Robins:

"We've got six of our more regular starters out with injuries. We've got injuries to key players.

"We've brought one or two in and we're looking to do some more business if we can do.

"We need some help certainly because when you look round there are lads on the bench who have not played.

"We drop ourselves in it a little bit. We're looking for a little bit of composure and a little bit more in terms of trying to get forward and get beyond and make chances for ourselves.

"I'm pleased with the clean sheet and the whole team takes credit for that. And I'm pleased with the return of four points from two games, which isn't a bad return."

Swansea manager Paulo Sousa:

Sousa reflects on Swansea draw

"I'm very happy with the performance. I was pleased with the attitude, we kept the ball very well and I saw anger and a will to win from my players.

"We played good football with good personality. It's not easy coming here with a new manager and the crowd, we needed lots of spirit and personality.

"Once we score, we will score a lot of goals. At the moment the ball isn't going in the net.

"It's not only today, but we must keep playing the same way. We work a lot, especially in the last third and I have confidence, it's only a question of when."
