Coventry Blaze notched up a gear in the last period to snatch a 4-2 win against Newcastle Vipers and book their place in the play-off semi-finals.

Jonathan Weaver, Danny Stewart, Sylvain Deschatelets and Barrie Moore scored to earn a 6-4 two-leg victory.

Coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "We got the job done but I expect nothing more from the Vipers.

"They are play-off guys. They are veterans. They know what it takes and league form goes out the window".

Coventry now meet Nottingham Panthers in Saturday's semi (face-off 1700 BST).
