Royal Ascot: Day Two
Follow all the action from Royal Ascot with BBC Sport Online
All the action from day two of Flat racing's big meeting, where Grandera wins the Prince of Wales' Stakes, the big race of the day.

1730 Chesham Stakes (7f)

After an even break, Pinkerton takes up the running.

Odds-on favourite Tomahawk, trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Mick Kinane, is well-positioned on the outside of the pack and moves to the front after the two furlong pole.

Helm Bank, ridden by Keith Dalgleish, moves up to challenge and Celtic Sapphire and Prince Nureyev are also in contention.

It is desperately close and requires a photo to separate Tomahawk and Helm Bank with the judges giving the latter the nod.

The winner is 25-1 whereas the runner-up is a 1-2 shot - it is an excellent result for the bookies and completes what has been a lucrative day for them.

1. Helm Bank 25-1
2. Tomahawk 1-2f
3. Celtic Supreme 11-1

Distance:S Hd, Nk

1655 BST Ascot Stakes (2m 4f)

The horses charge out of the stalls although Wintertide is caught napping and immediately drops a few lengths.

Almaydan makes the early pace and leads as they pass the stands for the first time, tracked by Renzo and Palua.

The same trio are still at the head of the field as they come to the mile marker.

Coming into the home straight, Palua and Waverley Road move to the front of the field.

It is Riyadh, who gets in front in the final furlong but Establishment, under Frankie Dettoir, makes a last-minute challenge.

It looks as if Establishment is going to get up but Kieren Fallon and Riyadh manage to hold on.

Riyadh is trained by National Hunt champion trainer Martin Pipe, who continues his excellent record in this race.

1. Riyadh 7-1f
2. Establishment 12-1
3. Mana D'Argent 20-1
4. Random Quest 33-1

(26 ran)

Distance: Hd, 1

1620 BST Royal Hunt Cup (1m)

There is a delay after Beauchamp Pilot unships his rider on the way up to the start.

As they leave the stalls, the large field splits into two groups, with one running on the stands side and one on the far side.

At two furlongs, the two packs start to merge with Invader leading on the far rail.

But in the latter stages, Jimmy Fortune just manages to get Norton up for a big-priced win.

1. Norton 25-1
2. Invader 50-1
3. Beauchamp Pilot 7-1
4. Morro Castle 33-1

(30 ran)

Distance: ,

1545 BST Prince of Wales' Stakes (1m2f)

As expected, Sydenham, ridden by Jamie Spencer for Godolphin, sets the early pace.

Bach and Desert Deer make their move as the horses turn into the home straight.

But the Godolphin pacemaker tactics seem to have paid off as Nayef strikes with a furlong to go and cruises home for an emphatic five-length victory.

Indian Creek, who had been lying last turning into the home straight, finishes in storming fashion to come second.

It is the first winner of the meeting for Frankie Dettori, who performs his trademark flying dismount in the winner's enclosure.

It is the third Prince of Wales's Stakes victory in a row for the Godolphin operation.

1. Grandera 4-1
2. Indian Creek 25-1
3. Banks Hill 7-2f

(12 ran)

Distance: 5,

1505 BST Queen Mary Stakes (5f)

Floppie Disk gets a flyer but there is a line of six fillies at the furlong pole.

Suddenly Romantic Liason bursts ahead and romps home for a comfortable victory.

It is Pat Eddery's first win of the 2002 meeting and means that the veteran Irish jockey has equalled Lester Piggott's haul of 4,493 victories, the second highest total by any jockey.

1. Romantic Liason 16-1
2. Never A Doubt 12-1
3. Rag Top 6-1f

(19 ran)

Distance: 3, nk

1430 BST Jersey Stakes (7f)

The Royal Procession drops the Queen off at the paddock so that she can get a close look at her runner in the first race, Approval.

After a good even break, Redback and Millennium Dragon take up the running.

Favourite Millennium Dragon hits the front at the furlong pole but is soon overhauled by a trio of challengers on the outside.

At the line, the unfancied Just James, who has come from a long way back, just gets up to pip another outsider Steenberg by a neck with Meshaheer half a length further back in third.

It is a first Royal Ascot winner for trainer Jeremy Noseda and the first success of this year's meeting for French jockey Olivier Peslier.

1. Just James 20-1
2. Steenberg 20-1
3. Meshaheer 10-1

(15 ran)

Distance: nk,
