Fast Freddie beat Boga to the line by a short head in the day's first race

Two Guernsey-owned horses won races at the annual race day at L'Ancresse Common on Monday.

Trevor Gallienne's Penang Cinta won the fourth race of the day.

Jim Jamouneau's horse Hold The Bucks was upgraded from second to joint-first after a review of the photo finish in the second race produced a dead-heat.

Club president Jamouneau said some of the visitors may have arrived expecting an easy victory, but would have left suitably impressed.

He said he hoped the quality of the competition would inspire visiting owners and trainers to return.

The majority of the 26 runners came from either Jersey or the UK, but included for the first time a French owned and trained horse.

Guernsey owned Penang Cinta romped home over a mile and a half

Jersey's Fast Freddie took victory by a short head over English owned Irish horse Boga in the Bob Froome Memorial Handicap over six furlongs.

Tous Les Deux was initially named the winner in the one mile handicap before the review of the photo finish saw it changed to a dead heat.

English owned Irish horse Prince Charlemagne was the clear winner of the day's feature race over two miles and a furlong.

Koka Fast, who won the feature race in 2008, came in last over the mile and a half distance of the Lawrie Ozanne Memorial Handicap as Penang Cinta came in first.

Derringbay, the first French owned and trained horse to enter since the annual meetings restarted in 2005, won the final race of the day over one mile and two furlongs.
