Former Derby-winning jockey Alan Munro has been notching a few winners lately and got the right tune out of Plectrum with a five-length success for Peter Chapple-Hyam.

Dandy Nicholls pulled off another big-race success as Strike Up The Band won from the widest draw of stall 15.

Adrian Nicholls had the winner up with the pace from the start, and he may return at Goodwood on Friday for the Richmond Stakes.

The trainer rates Strike Up The Band, who was second twice at Royal Ascot at York, as the best two-year-old he has trained.

Court Masterpiece, a nine-length winner at the course earlier in the season, just edged out Jack Sullivan in a tight finish.

The Ed Dunlop-trained winner, ridden by Philip Robinson, was backed down from 6-1 to 4-1.

Favourite Autumn Glory, who beat Court Masterpiece last time, trailed down the field.

The Geezer relished the rain-softened ground as he scored an impressive win for trainer David Elsworth under Richard Quinn.

A disappointment when fancied for the Epsom Derby in June, The Geezer was a popular winner for the team who enjoyed success in the past at the course with Persian Punch.

The five-length success saw The Geezer's odds halved to about 8-1 for the St Leger, over two furlongs further, at Doncaster in September.

Former champion jockey Kieren Fallon, who is now based in Ireland, clocks up his 40th winner of the season in Britain with victory on Evaluator for trainer Terry Mills.

Fallon stole the lead and held on from the fast-finishing Ofaraby and Nero's Return. Michael Jarvis trained the runner-up, and fourth-placed Shahzan House.

There was early drama in the stalls as Boule D'Or reared up and was left at the start.




A celebratory race meeting at Lingfield Park racecourse marks 20 years of horse racing on its all-weather track.
