Anna Monda made the early running before favourite Lucky Spin hit the front at the two furlong pole.
But Ryan Moore's mount veered across the track as the field caught up and the Mick Channon runner stormed up the outside with Quickfire and Lucky Spin separated by inches.
Moore picked up a three-day suspension for Lucky Spin's manoeuvre.
