Beeston grabbed two goals in the final eight minutes as they came from behind to beat Hampstead & Westminster 2-1 and lift the England Hockey Men's Cup. Andrew Cornick's strike high into the goal put Hampstead ahead after the break at Highfields Hockey Centre. But Jamie Parker rifled home the equaliser and Chris Seddon ran through to hit the winner and secure a second cup success in three years. Beeston captain Stephen Lawrence said: "We kept going until the end." He added: "When the equaliser was allowed it gave us confidence. It wasn't our best game and Hampstead played well." | Overall it has been a tough season but looking back it has probably been our most successful Beeston captain Stephen Lawrence |
"It was our third final in a row. It's a great competition and we had a great crowd here. "Overall it has been a tough season but looking back it has probably been our most successful." Beeston won the trophy in 2008 but lost to Reading in last year's final.
