Bacchas A began their defence of the men's Premier League title with an impressive 7-1 victory over a battling Castletown A on Saturday.

The Tromode side gave debuts to several young players but still proved too strong for the southerners.

Jamie Cox netted a fine hat-trick with Dave Kneale and Richard le Page both scoring two.

Valkyrs A top the Isle of Man Premier League table after thrashing new boys Harlequins A 12-1.

Valkyrs B and Vikings B drew 2-2 and three second-half goals gave Vikings A a winning start against Bacchas B.

Elsewhere, in the Women's Premier Division it was again Bacchas and Valkyrs setting the early pace.

Bacchas A defeated Ramsey 3-2 and Valkyrs A got their season off to a winning start with a 5-1 victory over Castletown A.
