Pitt is now seventh in the World Supersport standings |
Isle of Man-based rider Andrew Pitt finished sixth in the latest round of the World Supersport Championship at Imola, Italy on Sunday. Pitt struggled for pace in the first part of the race but a red flag allowed his team to make modifications to the front end of his Honda bike. The Australian said: "We made a big call during the break for the red flags and it transformed my lap times. "I can't wait for the next two races to get up there again." Pitt finished in fourth place on the track, but sixth on aggregate times. The race was won by his team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu. The victory was the Turkish rider's 14th win and made him the most successful rider in World Supersport championship history. Irishman Eugene Laverty took second, narrowing Cal Crutchlow's championship lead to just two points with two races remaining. The next round will be held at Magny-Cours in France.
