Keatings is targeting an Olympic medal in 2012 |
Corby gymnast Daniel Keatings has landed a new sponsorship deal with a Northampton-based electricity company. The 19-year-old, who is targeting a medal at the London Olympics in 2012, will be backed by Opus Energy. The firm has agreed to cover Keatings' competition fees, equipment and travel costs, allowing him to concentrate on training and preparation. "I'm really delighted to have the backing of a local business like Opus," said Keatings. "Their support gives me the peace of mind that I can dedicate all my time to training towards my dream of Olympic success." Keatings won a silver medal in the All-around final at the European Championships this year and claimed bronze on the pommel horse at a world cup event last year. The gymnast was also named Young Personality of the Year at the BBC East sports awards.
