King's next Premier League match is against Jelle Klaasen in Belfast
Norfolk's Mervyn King heads the Premier League standings after maintaining his 100% start with an 8-2 win over John Part in Coventry on Thursday night.
Phil Taylor, meanwhile, could only draw 7-7 with Terry Jenkins.
King, a world championship semi-finalist, told BBC Radio Norfolk he was now hopeful of winning the title.
"If I turn up and play my proper darts I can beat anybody," he said. "It's not a case of having to be as consistent as Phil Taylor."
The Premier League has been dominated by Taylor since its inception in 2005, while King is making his first appearance in the series.
But the Bradwell landlord is confident he has what it takes to end the reign of "The Power" after winning his first three matches.
"Phil is so consistent - that's what puts him above everybody else - but my A-game is very, very good. Personally I think it's probably better than Phil's A-game.
"But I can't produce it on call. If it turns up, then brilliant; if it doesn't, that's one of those things.
"I can't predict how I'm going to play in the way that Phil Taylor can."
