Taylor beat Raymond van Barneveld in week one of the Premier League |
World champion Phil Taylor has won his second match of the 2009 Premier League Darts, defeating Dutchman Jelle Klaasen 8-2 in Edinburgh on Thursday. Taylor was again in good form, racing into a 4-0 lead, and despite a 118 checkout from Klaasen, 'the Power' was always in control of the match. Taylor and Mervyn King, who beat James Wade 8-1, are the only two players with perfect records from two matches. The world number 1 now plays Terry Jenkins in Coventry on 19 February. The other two matches on the second night of the 2009 season ended in 7-7 draws. Wayne Mardle hit a 160 checkout to level his match against Jenkins, while Raymond van Barneveld picked up his first point of the tournament against former world champion John Part.
