Taylor is aiming for his fifth Premier League Darts title in 2009
Phil Taylor has sent out a warning to his competitors by saying that he expects his game to improve this year.
'The Power' enjoyed his best ever season in 2008, which culminated in him winning his 14th World Championship title in January.
But Taylor, 48, told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm a perfectionist. I want to raise my standard to a [three-dart] average of about 114.
"If you get to that standard, no one can compete with that."
Taylor, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, won all but one of the Professional Darts Corporation's televised events in 2008, claiming around 500,000 in prize money.
"It's going really well for me at the moment. I'm working hard at it, I'm very dedicated, and long may it continue," said Taylor.
"There's no secret to my success, it's just down to hard work and making sacrifices.
"If you do it right, you get the rewards, but you've got to put the hard work in," he added.
Taylor began his quest to win a fifth Premier League of Darts title with victory over Raymond van Barneveld last week.
