Phil 'the Power' Taylor is the current world number one |
Stoke-on-Trent's Phil Taylor has won the Eddie Cox Memorial Players Championship in Gibraltar, defeating St Helens' Alan Tabern 6-2 in the final. Saturday's one-day tournament at the Victoria Stadium was Taylor's first competitive action since winning his 14th world title earlier this month. Taylor defeated Mick McGowan, Jelle Klaasen, Andy Smith, Steve Beaton and Colin Osbourne en-route to the final. A 13-dart finish in the eighth leg secured Taylor the £6,000 first prize.
