Webster withstood a determined challenge from veteran Adams |
Number one seed Mark Webster booked his place in the BDO World Championship final with an impressive 6-4 victory over defending champion Martin Adams. The world number one from Wales raced into a 3-0 lead but saw the veteran number four seed claim four sets in succession to take the lead. But left-hander Webster recovered and sealed his win with a double 12 finish. In Sunday's final, Webster will face unseeded Australian Simon Whitlock, who beat number 11 seed Brian Woods 6-3. Webster admitted he could hardly believe his success. "I went three sets up and felt confident but then he came back and I thought I had gone," he said. "I just plugged away and worked my way back in. I am thrilled, made up. I can't believe it." Adams was diplomatic in defeat, and told BBC Sport: "It is just one of those things, it's darts. "When you get beaten in one of those games you don't mind, it's when you get beaten and you've played badly it hurts. C'est la vie." Goatee-bearded Whitlock raced into a 5-1 lead and then overcame a late challenge from Woods, who won successive sets to cut the lead to two. "He came back well but I said to myself 'play the big legs well and you'll win' and I did that."
